Michelle Obama: From the South Side of Chicago to the White House.

 On January 17, 1964, Michelle La Vaughn Robinson was born in Chicago, Illinois, and became Michelle Obama.

She was raised in a working-class home on Chicago's South Side. Her mother, Marian Robinson, worked as a secretary, while her father, Fraser Robinson, worked at the city water plant.


Michelle did a fantastic job at school. She earned a sociology degree from Princeton University in 1985 and a law degree from Harvard Law School in 1988.


She practiced law at the Chicago-based Sidley Austin firm after graduating from law school.


Michelle first connected with Barack Obama, a young Harvard law student, in 1989. 


After they started dating, they got married in 1992. The two girls of the marriage were named Malia and Sasha.
